Gel Nails

I am in love :) This product has been out on the market for a while but I have only had it done 2 times (once last night). It is nail product that is similar to nail polish except it's actually gel so it lasts wayyy longer and doesn't chip. What more could a girl ask for?

I am leaving for vacation tomorrow for 2 weeks and I don't want to have to worry about my nails while I am gone so I decided to opt for this instead of a regular manicure. It's a little pricey that's why I don't always get it but I had to splurge for this special occasion.

So I went last night to Elegant Nails on Lombard St (I am sure there are other places in the city that have it). This salon uses Axxium, which is OPI's brand of gel polish but there are other brands as well. I have seen 2 other brands, Shellac and Gelish at other salons. So they put the clear base coat gel on first and the color. Each coat has to dry under the UV light for like 2 or 3 minutes and when you take your hand out, it is COMPLETELY dry. Amazing right? One of the great things about it is that the polish comes out perfectly smooth and so shiny!! You can almost see yourself in it! The absolute best thing is that is lasts 2-4 weeks.

Dirt Bag Alert

Ronnie from Jersey Shore disgusts me! He is such a jerk. He was OK last season, I didn't have a problem with him, but NOW! Oh now I have a big problem with him.

For starters he is the world's #1 d-bag. He acts so ridiculous in the clubs and gets totally annihilated (someone didn't read my "handling your booze" blog!) and acts like a fool. Why does he think that getting completely blacked out and falling on your face is cool? I can understand one slip up but this happens every time he goes out. Even the Situation can keep himself composed.

Secondly, what is his deal with Sam! He treats her like crap. You can't have your cake and eat it too, Ronnie! He is always flip flopping back and forth whether he wants to be with her or not. One second he will be saying she is his girl and then the next he is out creeping and triple kissing in a club. I don't like how he plays with Sam's heart all the time like it's his entertainment. He is such an immature tool.

I don't think Sam is perfect and she definitely lets him walk all over her, BUT he should have enough decency to treat her with respect and to be honest. And if that means ending things, then just end it. It's not nice to play with people's emotions!

Good, Cheap Wine

I love this wine. It has been great things about it, but the best is that it is cheap and delicious! It's smooth with vanilla, chocolate and oak flavors. You can get it at Bevmo and Safeway and pretty much anywhere. It's a great go-to table wine!

Ke$ha

I am not sure if she has any fans, but I am sorry, I think she is quite possibly the most annoying ever. She has weirdest nasal-y voice, her outfits are ATROCIOUS and her songs are annoying and stupid. Whenever she does interviews she acts so dumb and it always seems like she's on drugs, which she probably is.

I also don't like her because she clowned on Britney. Not cool! Yeah, she said that Brit's "15 minutes were almost up." WTF.

Teeth

Why do people walk around with yellow teeth? I ask myself this everyday. It's not the 90's anymore, there's plenty of great, cheap teeth whiteners out there.

I think it is disgusting when people don't take care of their mouths. Like, do you not realize you have dragon breath! And anyone within 3 feet can smell your nasty mouth. I wish that people would take more care of their teeth, it doesn't take that much effort. Brush at least 2x per day, floss 1x per day and throw some whitening strips on every once in while. Is that too much to ask?!?!?

So let's take a stand against dirty mouths! Every time you come across someone with bad mouth, offer them a piece of gum, recommend a great toothpaste or mouthwash, and drop a few lines about the importance of flossing. Hopefully they will get the hint!

Britney

Has anyone noticed that our dear Brit Brit has been looking, uhh surprisingly put together lately!! I have been seeing all these pics on the blogs and have been pleasantly surprised. I think she is getting her act together because 1. she is working on a new record and will probably start promoting soon, 2. she is a designer for Candie's now and 3. there are probably other reasons but I can't think of them right now.

Leggings. Hm.

I just don't know how I feel about leggings. Yes, I have toyed with wearing them, but every time I do, I feel weird because I HAVE NO PANTS ON. Not a good feeling. There's such a thin layer of spandex separating me from the world.

That's the main problem with leggings, they are just too thin. A lot of times you can actually see through them which is really bad and tacky. See exhibit A, Paris Hilton (of course).



Gross! If you're going to wear these, you must cover your butt! No one wants to see your butt (well I am sure somebody does). Does Paris think that is a dress? No, it's a shirt.

Exhibit B. I dont know who this is but this is a serious fashion crime. Her shirt doesn't even come close to cover her huge bum and you can see all her cellulite. Not attractive. I am not saying I am perfect, but I certainly wouldn't be caught dead in this!! This is DON'T.




If you want to look cute in leggings, take a cue from Kim K. She wears leggings to perfection with sky high heels, a flowy top and a blazer. And notice, her butt is covered! Even she knows you gotta cover it up sometimes.





This is kind of Kim's signature look. She definitely works it. I think this outfit would be super cute to travel in (I like to dress up when I fly, makes me feel like a world traveler). I am going on vacay in 2 weeks and I think I will wear something like this.

One thing I love about this look is it looks so cute and put together but it is comfy and functional. You have layers so it works in a variety of temperatures and if you take the blazer off, you are pretty much wearing PJs.

Review on Neutrogena Clinical

I posted a few weeks ago a free trial of this stuff and if you didn't get it, YOU MISSED OUT.

I have been using it for almost 4 weeks, and I am seeing a major difference. My forehead wrinkles are shrinking AND so are my eye wrinkles. My eye wrinkles are almost completely gone! I am really surprised that it's working. People pay hundreds of dollars for wrinkle creams and this one was only $40. Well worth it! I got it for free so it makes it even sweeter! Bellissimo!!!

Miracle Cleaning Product

I don't know about you but I am a bathtub neglector :( I will clean everything in my apartment and just ignore the tub. I just hate cleaning it. It's the scrubbing that drives me nuts, and you really have to put some muscle into it! So my friend mentioned this product to me and she told me it works miracles so of course I had to try it.

I don't know how it does it, but it gets your bathtub sparkling without scrubbing. It's an anomaly really! You just spray it on, let it sit for like 2 minutes and then just wipe it down. Your tub will be so clean you will be smiling from ear to ear.

Lucy's Cookies

You know when you go to Starbucks and you see all those delicious treats in the display cabinet? They look so good but they are pretty much a heart attack to go. All of the pastries sold at Starbucks have between 300 and 500 calories each!! Even the "reduced fat" ones. So stay away!!!!!

Starbucks started carrying these (I don't know when) but I tried them the other day and they are delicious!! They are vegan and gluten free (no milk, eggs, nuts). You get 4 cookes in a bag and the entire thing has 173 calories. So when you have a sweet tooth go for a bag of these rather than a cinnamon roll!

Kim K

Does anyone else think this outfit is weird? Usually I think she is dressed really cute, but this outfit just doesn't look right. It just has way too much going on. Corset top, skin tight skirt, boobs spilling out, weird assymentrical strap, ugly puffy sleeve, and a splash of fish scales to top it all off.
Hopefully this was just one lapse of judgement and she goes back to dressing cute :)

Nail Polish

I am obsessed with painting my nails. I paint them at least 3 times a week. My boyfriend thinks I am insane! (you know how guys can't stand the smell of nail polish) I absolutely cannot stand having chipped nail polish, it's pretty much my biggest pet peeve.

I used to have acrylic pink and whites for the longest time, but then I started to feel like they were so 90's and old school. I would always see celebs with cute colors and short nails so I decided to ditch the fakes. I like not having fake nails but it's definitely a lot more work to keep them looking nice.

So one conundrum I always run into is what color to paint my nails. I always want to paint them bright purple, pink or even blue but I hesitate because it doesn't seem really professional and I don't want to get dirty looks in the office. But is it not professional to have bright colors on your nails? I don't know!?!?

I usually will end up painting them a nude or light pink on the weekdays and then something bright and fun for Saturday and Sunday (that's about the extent of fun on my weekends ;) ) .

I think Revlon polish is really really good and it's not as pricey as OPI. It lasts a long time and it has a nice brush that makes it easier to paint. If you don't want your polish to chip you MUST use a good quality base and top coat and make sure your color coat and top coat are smooth, and try not to make it too thick. You are only supposed to put 3 brush strokes on each nail, one down the middle and one on each side. My experience with nail painting (which is quite extensive) has taught me that the KEY is to make the polish smooth and even, especially on the tips.

Try these base and top coats. I bought them from a nail salon but I have seen them both at CVS. They both run around $10.

McDonald's Fruit Smoothie

So I saw the commercial for the new fruit smoothies and it sparked my craving! I was thinking about going to Jamba Juice but I was feeling kind of lazy and didn't want to walk the one block to the one by my office. Plus it's always freezing in San Francisco and Jamba Juice and cold weather aren't the best duo.

So I went through the drive through at McD's and got one! They only have 2 flavors, one is a mixed berry and the other is strawberry banana. They are absolutely delicious and really cheap. I asked the lady at the window and she said its just nonfat yogurt, ice and fruit puree. It definitely has some sugar in it but little to no aritificial additives. I still think Jamba is better because they have more flavors and you can get a boost, but these are surpsrising delicious and healthy!

Movies

Where my movie buffs at?!? haha. I know there are other movie lovers out there. I don't know what it is but I could seriously watching movies all day long (oh wait, that's my Saturday and Sunday every weekend). I love them because they give you a nice 2 hour break from your life. So needless to say, I am always on the quest for good movies and I am pretty much Blockbuster's number 1 customer (I know, Blockbuster- so old school).



So I finally rented "Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" the other weekend and OMG! It was one of the best movies I have seen in a while. First, it was an international best selling book and they made it into a movie. It's actually Swedish (I think) so it's all in sub-titles which kinda sucks but you get used to it. Anyway, the BEST part of all it is that there is an English/American version in the works and my favorite actor, DANIEL CRAIG, is playing the lead role. Thank you Jesus!!

So go out and rent it as the warm up to Daniel's version! It's gonna be great!!
