I Need This

Mint Automatic Floor Cleaner. Anyone with hardwood floors knows what a b*tch they are to keep clean and how particles are always floating around on them. This product looks amazing and it's not as expensive as I thought it would be, only $199.99. Worth the price, if you ask me!

Mint® Automatic Floor Cleaner

The Mint® Automatic Floor Cleaner uses the NorthStar® Navigation System to determine its location then builds a map of the area as it cleans, including walls, obstacles and drop offs. Mint® starts by cleaning open areas, then follows with a perimeter sweep along the edges of furniture and walls for a complete clean. When Mint® is finished cleaning, it returns to where it started and parks itself so you know right where to find it. Smart sensors help Mint® slow down before bumping walls and furniture, detect areas that are too low to enter, avoid area rugs and avoid falling down stairs. The special mopping motion gets deeper dirt and grime off your floor and PerfectEdge™ technology cleans along edges and walls. Mint® delivers whisper quiet operation and cleans up to three hours on a single charge. Includes charger, two dry microfiber cleaning cloths, one wet cleaning cloth, NorthStar® Navigation Cube, and two C batteries. (click pic above for purchase page)

Now, if there were only a robot that did laundry...

Blowing My Mind

I am at an utter lack for words. Someone introduce me to the creative mastermind who thought these up. What an idea! Slippers that clean your floor, yes please!

Seriously, this is genius. You clean your floor by doing nothing except walking around in maximum comfort. This product combines 2 of my favorite things, cleaning and pajamas. How convenient.

If you're obsessed with cleaning like me, you need these! Click on the pic above to buy.

New Year's Resolution

I have been thinking for the last few weeks about what I should make as my NYR. I don't really like to make them because I never keep them anyway! Of course the one I make every year is to lose weight, but that's an life long process so I guess it doesn't really count. Then I decided to make one to drink more water. Maybe for once I will actually keep my NYR! I drink about 10 cups of coffee per day, so I am going to try to cut it down to like ohhhh 8 or 9 and mix in a couple of bottles of water here and there.

So pondering this thought this morning, I decided that my NYR is going to be to try to enjoy life more. I think a lot of times, we get so bogged down with our daily routines that we forget to enjoy ourselves. We only live this life once and we need to make the best of it! Even if that means skipping the gym to grab a drink with a friend, or ordering the quesadilla instead of a salad, or buying that expensive dress even though you have no where to wear it! As my wise friend Jenny once said "Life is short – need to enjoy it. Looking back at your life you are not going to remember your workouts. You remember your good times with your loved ones."

So please remember life is a gift. Have fun, stay positive, and enjoy your life and your loved ones as much as possible!

Clean House, Fit Body

Well, it looks like being a neat freak isn't so bad after all. I have known this all along but some people think cleaning a lot is being "anal." For me, it's just a way of life :) Clean house, happy life!

So I found this article in Fitness Magazine that made my day.

"Clean House, Fit Body
The white-glove test may measure not only your spiffiness but also your waistline. People with neat homes are more active, new research from Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis finds. In fact, tidiness outranks decent sidewalks and adequate street lighting when it comes to boosting how much physical activity you get. Chores like vacuuming (224 calories burned an hour), sweeping (211 calories burned an hour), dusting (160 calories burned an hour), and doing laundry (128 calories an hour) all count as exercise, says lead author and exercise physiologist NiCole Keith, Ph.D. Makes preparing for dinner guests seem less of a time suck and more like multitasking!"

Makes me feel better about the days I skip the gym because of chores. Ok, I officially sound like I have no life.

Bragging

Well I haven’t been on a rant in a while so I figured it was time! It’s not exactly a rant, more like a vent.

Does anyone else ever get annoyed about how much people brag these days, particularly on Facebook status updates? It’s ridiculous!

It’s like ok, you don’t need to post every 2 minutes about the “cool” things you’re doing: “Just ran into Gavin Newsom on the street!” “Going out for another crazy night in the Marina, I love my city” “Got a huge promotion at work!” Most recently- “Hanging out with the Giants players at ______ bar!” You get my drift. Do people really think that’s cool? Most of the people who you are friends with on Facebook aren’t even your friends in real life, so who cares?

I just figure if you’re actually a cool person in real life, you don’t have to brag all the time just to pump up your own ego. I can understand if something really awesome happens to you and you want to share, that's great. But EVERY SINGLE post should not follow this form.

Whatever happened to being humble? Can we bring that back!?!?!?!?

Facebook is starting to really annoy me.

Miracle Cleaning Product

I don't know about you but I am a bathtub neglector :( I will clean everything in my apartment and just ignore the tub. I just hate cleaning it. It's the scrubbing that drives me nuts, and you really have to put some muscle into it! So my friend mentioned this product to me and she told me it works miracles so of course I had to try it.

I don't know how it does it, but it gets your bathtub sparkling without scrubbing. It's an anomaly really! You just spray it on, let it sit for like 2 minutes and then just wipe it down. Your tub will be so clean you will be smiling from ear to ear.

Lucy's Cookies

You know when you go to Starbucks and you see all those delicious treats in the display cabinet? They look so good but they are pretty much a heart attack to go. All of the pastries sold at Starbucks have between 300 and 500 calories each!! Even the "reduced fat" ones. So stay away!!!!!

Starbucks started carrying these (I don't know when) but I tried them the other day and they are delicious!! They are vegan and gluten free (no milk, eggs, nuts). You get 4 cookes in a bag and the entire thing has 173 calories. So when you have a sweet tooth go for a bag of these rather than a cinnamon roll!

Facebook

Just a quick FYI- your phone number really is on Facebook! If you go to account (on the top right of your home page), edit friends, click on phonebook on the left navigation bar and voilĂ , everyone's numbers.
That kind of makes me sick.
To make your number private, go to account, privacy settings, customize settings, and then change "mobile phone" to only me.

Safety Precautions

I could write for dayssss about safety precautions. Probably because I am paranoid from watching too many murder shows on TV. The safety precaution I am compelled to bring up is internet safety.

Ahhh the age of social media. If you're reading this blog, you probably partake in some form of social networking. Why wouldn't you? It's totally fun and entertaining. You can spy on people all the time and no one thinks there's anything wrong with it! ;) The problem with networking on the internet is that sometimes we give TMI (too much information).

I was watching that Kirstie Ally show "Big Life" and she was complaining to all her assistants and entourage because the tabloids were publishing all this personal information about her. She was convinced she had a mole on her staff and launched an investigation to find out who it was. Well, come to find out, the tabloids were getting all this information from what she published on Twitter!

More bothersome, I read an article about people's homes being burglarized when they were out for only 2 hours. The cause was traced back to victims posting where they were and what they were doing on facebook! Yes, it is sad to think that someone you know robbed you, but let's face it, you can't trust everyone you meet. I don't know how many times I see on facebook, my friends posting that they are going on vacation for a week or 2 weeks. Well if someone knew you had valuable things and where you lived, that's the perfect opportunity to rob you.

The moral of the story is be careful of the information you post about yourself online. Sure, posting now and again about what you're doing is great and people love updates, but don't put yourself at risk.

Art

Does anyone else out there like interesting artwork? By no means am I a connoisseur or anything but I do like cool looking things around me.

We just moved offices at work, out of corporate world and into the private sector. Which means we can pick out whatever art work we want! So while on the quest to decorate our new office, I found this fantastic artist who uses mix media to create really cool collages. Some of the pieces are on canvas but a lot of them are prints and are really reasonably priced. I am getting a few prints to hang up in my own office.
