Newest Nail Polish Trend
I think it's actually kind of cute! To have one finger on each hand painted with a different color. It's a little funky, but I think it's a fun way to spice things up a bit. I am not into all the leopard and zebra print stuff so this is a perfect subtle change :)
I really like these colors that Vanessa Hudgens has, but I think it would have been cuter if the ring finer was painted gold with blue polka dots! To each her own, I guess!
If you want to paint your nails like this, you have to pick complimentary colors. Use this color wheel and pick what color you like best for the main color, and then choose something opposing it for the accent color (maybe even choose a sparkly nail color like Hudgens above).
I am for sure getting this next time I get a manicure!

Wayfare Tavern Review
I have been wanting to go here since it opened way back in June, and I finally went last week. Better late than never!
It's chef Tyler Florence's flagship restaurant in the financial district in the space that used to be Rubicon restaurant. Tyler Florence has a show on the Food Network and has previously hosted a bunch of shows before his current one, Tyler's Ultimate. He is also an author of many cooking books. Here's a pic of him:
He wasn't there on the night I went but oh well! It was still a great dining experience. The restaurant itself is really beautiful. It has 2 floors and the inside is decorated like a chic chalet. It has wood panel walls, dark paint and animal trophies on the walls. Some people might not fancy that, but I thought it was cool.
We were sat downstairs in a booth near the bar. They also have a bar upstairs but it is pretty small. It was really crowded with a lot of professional looking people. There were quite a few business dinners going on and a lot of talking. It was a little loud, but I didn't mind because I hate quiet stuffy restaurants. Might not be a great place for a first date ;)
So we ordered wine and appetizers first. The steak tartare was the best I have ever had. We also had a beet salad which was ok, but it was a beet salad so how good could it possibly be. They had a good wine selection, mostly California.
The main courses were a mixture. I had pork shank that was really delicious and perfectly cooked. We also had fried chicken and Hawaiian tuna. They were both good but nothing incredible. We had one dish that was not good, the grilled branzino, that was very dry and bland. I have to say that their mac and cheese is probably the best I have ever had!
For the most part, the food was good but a bit inconsistent. Some good dishes, some ok, some crappy. It's a good place to eat at least once just for the experience. They do change the menu every few months, so maybe I will go back again when they have new dishes.
One last thing, be careful if you're on a diet! They don't have many light choices, and even the veggies are covered in butter and sauces.
Be sure to make a reservation if you want to eat here!

The Heat Is On
For Kate Middleton. She has been highly critized in the tabloids for stepping out to attend a wedding in a see through shirt. Apparently the British press finds the shirt too revealing for a future princess to be wearing.
I personally don't think the shirt is too revealing. It's not like she's flashing nip like JWOWW here (Don't know what she was thinking.)
Yes, the shirt is sheer, but do they expect her to be wearing turtlenecks all the time? So she's celebrating being a woman and showing off her body a little bit, is that a crime? And it's not like the shirt is tasteless, she is obviously still exuding elegance and class. I honestly think the British press needs to come into the 21st century and not scrutinize her for being a modern woman.
I guess people expect her to be a cookie cutter princess, which she is obviously not. She does things a lot differently than other British Royalty. She and Prince William have actually been admired for being much like commoners. They don't live in a castle or have servants. They have even been spotted buying their own groceries!
Seems like the brits are scrutinizing the same thing they admire. SMH. Guess they just need to unwad their underpants.

Trend Alert
Infiniti Scarves! I should have posted this like 6 months ago but for some reason I waited until now :/
So these are obviously the hottest scarves on the market and I don't think they're going anywhere for a while because they are 1000x better than regular scarves. I don't know about you guys, but every time I wore a regular scarf, I was always messing with it, trying to make it cute, trying to get the tails out of my face. Should I wrap it in the front or the back, 2x or one time, should I tie it, let it hang long.. etc etc? Oh gosh, those scarves are gonna make my head explode!
You can buy these pretty much anywhere and there are millions of cute ones out there. I have about 50 scarves already so it's hard to bring myself to by more so I started making my own infinitis! It's really easy. Just take your favorite scarf, tie the ends together in the smallest knot possible and voila! Infiniti Scarf. You can sort of see the knot in back but you can cover it with the other layer of scarf or your hair or jacket or whatever and you can't even tell it's not a real infiniti.
So make one yourself and save your money for something fabulous, like a vacation!

Fashion Police
Award season has finally arrived and that means it's time to critique outfits! The Golden Globes aren't really my favorite because I don't care too much for the small screen (except for reality shows and Dexter), but it's a good warm up to the Academy Awards. The Golden Globes show also serves the purpose of showing us what movies to see before the Oscars.
I saw some very interesting things on the red carpet last night. Honestly, I would say that about 70% of the dresses were huge FLOPS, 20% were just ok, and only 10% wowed. Kind of disappointing as you would think the stars would be bringing their A game!
The biggest trends seemed to be both bright and neutral colors. I have to say the bright colors were a nice change from the normal sea of black gowns and really freshened things up!
Here are my top 3 best dressed:
#1 January Jones in Versace. I like this dress for a few reasons, of course #1 it is a total show stopper. This is what a star should look like at the Golden Globes. The dress may be border lining on overly sexy but her retro-glam style makes it work. I love the cut outs and the fringe on the bottom makes it's movement interesting and so glamorous.
#2 Emma Stone in Calvin Klein. The color of this dress is a bit unusual and it compliments her new hair color perfectly! The shape of the dress is really flattering on her, even though she kind of looks wafey. Totally reminds me of a young Kate Moss here. The hair, make up and dress are working great on her.
#3 Claire Danes in Calvin Klein. Congrats to her for pulling this look off. Halter tops are always difficult to look good in. Her body is obviously incredibly fit and she looks vibrant and youthful in this beautiful pink. I like the simplicity of the dress with its clean lines and her choice of minimal jewelry and classic hair and make up.
Worth mentioning for best dressed:
Sandra Bullock in Jenny Packham (beautiful dress, hideous hair!)
Sofia Vergara in Vera Wang
Now onto the worst dressed. It was hard to pick just 3 because there were so many, but here are the absolute worst.
#1 WORST OF ALL. Julianna Moore in Lanvin. Barf barf barf. What is this? She has really been dressing like a weirdo lately. Though I like the color, it doesn't look great on her and the shiny material is so ugly. Not to mention the wrinkles all over the front, the one puffy sleeve, the built in necklace. What a mess! Oh yeah, her shoes suck too!
#2 worst. Michelle Williams in Valentino. Where do I begin? I had a dress with this pattern when I was 5 years old. The pattern is totally ugly and inappropriate for an awards show. The dress is ill-fitting and just all around ugly. What are those ruffles on the sides? Ew.
#3 worst. Heidi Klum in Marc Jacobs. She always dresses like a freak so this isn't that surprising to me, but ugly none the less! This looks like a swim suit cover up. I don't know if that's a bow on the front or wings or what? 40 bangles on each wrist, too much eye make up, she looks like she only curled 2 strands of hair. And somehow found a pair of ugly Louboutins (I didn't think they existed) to top it all off. Also notice that her toes are hanging over the front of her shoes. I honestly don't understand this woman, she is one of the most famous super models of all time and hosts one of the top fashion TV shows and she continues to dress like a homeless. Baffling.
Mentionable worst dressed:
Jennifer Lopez in Zuhair Murad. The dress would actually be ok without that weird blanket over it. She should have opted for a different hair style (down) and ditched the earrings.
Thoughts?
